The Kiwanis Club of Galena held its annual Peanut Days on September 11 and 12, 2026. Peanut Days celebrate the club’s commitment to the community of Galena and, in particular, to the children of our community. Each year, the Kiwanians greet customers at Piggly Wiggly and Walmart to solicit donations for their annual scholarships and grants. The Kiwanis Club of Galena provides two $1000 scholarships to students at Galena High School and grants to organizations that apply each spring. Those who donate receive a packet of Planters peanuts or a bag of pretzels as a thank-you for their donation.
“This year we are very grateful to our community for the support they provide our club and our goal of providing scholarships and grants,” stated Ty Cocagne. He went on to state that the club accepted approximately $1,700 in donations, which will be added to the scholarship and grant fund.
The Kiwanis Club of Galena continues to support its motto of “Serving the Children of the World” through community service and financial assistance from the community, business, fundraising activities, and the commitment of its members.
