On Tuesday we welcomed members of Kiwanis Clubs from Dubuque and Maquoketa Iowa. Lt. Governor Yvonne Mallery addressed the group and brought us up to date on II District news and we all shared what each club is doing for service projects in their respective communities.
Showing Up To Clean Up!
26 AprOne of the ways we participate in Earth Day activities is to show up to clean up the levee area in downtown Galena. This area is one of the City’s landmarks and often one of the first views of our community for visitors.
Pictured here are club members who helped with the cleanup.
Congratulations And Thank You
26 AprIt was a chilly day but everyone had a great time. We had 75 participants join us on Saturday. For some, it was a chance to incorporate a visit to Galena with a fun event. Others were running in their first race but all were helping us to give back to a community that we care about.
Thanks to all who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported our club.
Perfect Weather For Race Day!
19 AprDon’t miss on the first run of the season! The weather forecast will be perfect for this event. Use the QR code for your last minute registration.
Culvers Share Night
19 AprThanks to Culvers, and volunteers from our club, we were able to share our community support. Over $200 was raised in this event which will go towards our projects.
Galena City Engineer Visits
12 AprMatt Oldenburg, City Engineer for Galena, visited our club this week to give an update on everything that’s going on and the list is long. IDOT Spring Street Project, Lead Service Replacement, Street Improvement Program, Sidewalk Recplacement, Commerce Street Parking Lot, Infrastructure Program and Well Tower 7 Repaint Project. All part of an ongoing Captial Improvement Plan for the City. Bet you thought they just fixed things as they broke!
Thanks Matt!
We Mourn The Loss of Terry Townsend
5 AprThis week Terry Townsend, a longtime Kiwanian, passed after a long illness. She was a true example of someone who believed in our mission “Serving The Children Of The World”.
Terry originally joined the Kiwanis Club of Park Forest in 1995 and held several positions in that Club including Lt. Governor. She joined the Kiwanis Club of Galena in 2018 and was always eager to welcome new members. Terry was often the first to sign up for service projects as pictured here on Peanut Day in 2023.
