Our club proudly contributes to many organizations in the Galena area. This year, we demonstrated our support in various ways. One of these was by being a hole sponsor for the Food Pantry Golf Outing. This agency provides much needed nutritional support to those experiencing food insecurity in our community.

Kiwanis Scholarship Awards

This week we hosted our Kiwanis GHS Scholarship recipients. Club President Stacy Bouldoukian presented certificates to the graduates at the Graduation Awards Ceremony and then they were invited to lunch to get their checks and tell us about their future plans.
Kim Winter, winner of the $1,000 technical school scholarship, plans to attend Western Tech to study Nursing. Will Anderson, winner of the $1,000 academic scholarship, plans to attend NICC to study welding and also will attend Worsham School of Mortuary Science.

Luncheon Held To Honor 2025 Grant Recipients
28 MayWe recently held a luncheon at Prairie Ridge to honor the seven recipients of their 2025 Grant. Funds for the grants are generated from the Annual River Trail Run in April and go toward organizations with an emphasis on helping children and improving the quality of life in the Galena community.
This year the local organizations receiving funds were: St. Vincent DePaul; Galena Knights of Columbus; Galena Art & Recreation Center; Galena HIgh School American Exchange Program; Family Enrichment Program; Galena Center for the Arts; and the Galena Police Department.
The run is one of several events that the Kiwanis Club of Galena sponsors or is involved with during the year and includes; 4th of July Fireworks, Country Fair, Oktoberfest, Peanut Day , road clean up, City park improvements, GHS Scholarships, GHS Key Club, Kiwanis International, and community volunteering.

3 MayThanks to everyone who participated in this event. Runners, Sponsors, and volunteers made sure that we all had a great time. We met our goal of 100+ runners and will be able to award several grants to programs that serve the youth of our community. Join us again next year!

Galena EMS Shares Information About The “Stop The Bleed” Program

Thanks to the Members of the Galena EMS team and Chief Hefel for sharing information with us about the department’s “Stop The Bleed” program. The goal of this program is to provide each classroom and common space in the Galena Schools with a kit at a cost of $90 each.
